Hornets Take 3rd In Final NTL Match At Corey Creek

Senior Syler Pietrzyk tired for 3rd place to help lead the Wellsboro Golf team to a 3rd place finish in their final regular season NTL match at Corey Creek on Thursday.

Pietrzyk shot a round of 77 to tie with Towanda's Boom Thompson for 3rd place overall.

Wellsboro finished with an aggregate score of 354. Athens edged Towanda by a stroke, 319-320, to take the top spot. Cowanesque Valley (360) finished 4th, North Penn-Mansfield (366) was 5th, Wyalusing shot 392 to place 6th, Canton scored 374 for 7th, and Sayre rounded out the field with a 407.

Junior Chase Schultz finished second in Wellsboro's ladder with a round of 90, followed by sophomores Benjamin Jackson with a 93 and Conlen Whitsell with a 94. Freshman Jackson Largey carded a 96 and junior Logan Johnson finished with a 97.

The Hornets finish the regular season 29-12 (24-11 NTL, 3rd place). The team is back in action at the District IV Team Championships at White Deer Golf Course in Montgomery on September 30.
