Coaching Bio
Coach Howe is in his 1st year as head coach of the Hornets. He graduated from Elkland Area High School in 2006. He won the PIAA State Golf Championship in 2005 and District 4 Championship in 2004. He holds the NTL scoring average record and record for most consecutive matches as medalist (16).
After high school, Coach Howe attended Penn State University to play Div. I golf for the Nittany Lions. After redshirting his 1st year, he was a permanent starter for the remaining 4 years of eligibility. He won 3 college tournaments: the 2008 Pinehurst Intercollegiate, the 2010 NCAA Regional at Yale, and the 2011 Rutherford Intercollegiate. He was an NCAA Honorable Mention All-American in 2010 and Big Ten Sportsmanship of the Year recipient in 2011.
After college, he played professionally for six years, winning 11 times across different mini tours. He competed in multiple PGA, Korn Ferry and Mackenzie (Canadian) Tour events, highlighted by his participation in the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. In 2017, Coach Howe returned to his alma mater, accepting the position of Assistant Coach at Penn State. He stayed in this position until 2020 when he and his family returned to the area.
Coach Howe is currently a Relationship Manager for FCCB and resides in Wellsboro with his wife, Christie and children, Brynlie (daughter) and Colson (son).
