Senior Brock Hamblin shot an 81 to claim medalist honors as the Hornets finished 3rd overall in their season-opening match at Towanda Country Club on Thursday, September 3.

"It was a good result for the experience level of our team," said head coach Steve Macensky after the match. "They all said they could do better and that's what we will work towards. Brock got off to a good start to the season low score for the day. We will get back to work tomorrow and fix a few things from today and get ready for our next match on Tuesday."

Wellsboro shot a combined combined 397 on the afternoon, finishing just behind Cowanesque Valley (391) and victor North Penn-Mansfield (351). Sayre (399) was 4th, Wyalusing (415) was 5th, Towanda (417) was 6th, and Athens (426) rounded out the pack in 7th.

Sophomore Blake Hamblin shot 103, sophomore Andrew Merriman carded a 106, sophomore Reece Servatius and freshman Hayden Zuchowski both shot 107, and junior Joseph Doty shot 110.

The Hornets are back in action at Corey Creek on Tuesday, September 8.
