Hamblin named NTL MVP; Merriman named Rookie of the Year

Senior Brock Hamblin was named NTL MVP and sophomore Andrew Merriman received Rookie of the Year honors as the Hornets wrapped up the 2020 golf season at Tyoga Country Club on Wedneday, October 7.

Hamblin finished with the league's top average as he was crowned MVP. Merriman finished with the 3rd best average on the Hornets and 17th overall in the league.

As the league wrapped up its 2020 season North Penn-Mansfield was crowned league champs with a perfect 41-0 record. The Tigers shot a combined score of 370 on the afternoon, beating 2nd place finisher Cowanesque Valley (398) by 28 strokes. Wellsboro (403) was 3rd, Wyalusing (411) was 4th, Sayre (421) was 5th, Towanda (433) was 6th, and Athens (443) was 7th.

North Penn-Mansfield's Reece White claimed the top individual spot with a round of 84 followed by Hamblin (87) in 2nd. CV's Joel Heck and Sayre's Kannon VanDuzer tied 3rd with a score of 90, and North Penn-Mansfield's Alex Stein was 5th with a 92.

Sophomore Blake Hamblin finished with a round of 99, junior Joseph Doty shot 106, freshman Hayden Zuchowski carded a 111, and Merriman and sophomore Elizabeth Propheta each scored 114.

Wellsboro finishes the season 2nd overall with a 32-9 record.
