Hornet Golfers win 6th straight match

The Wellsboro Golf team shot a combined 338 to roll to their 6th straight win at Tioga Country Club in Nichols, NY on Monday, September 16.

"We posted another consistent team score in the NTL," head coach Steve Macensky commented after the match. "All five matches have been within 6 stokes from high to low. We are looking forward to playing at home next Tuesday and preparing for District play in a couple of weeks."

Seniors Ty Morral and Joseph Propheta, along with CV's Austin Outman, each shot a round of 80 at the par-71 course to have a three-way tie for 1st place overall to lead Wellsboro to the team victory. North Penn-Mansfield claimed 2nd place with a 359 followed by Cowanesque Valley (374), Athens (377), Towanda (379), and Sayre (403).

Junior Brock Hamblin tied for 7th overall with an 88, senior Ethan Blakley shot a 90 to tie for 11th, and sophomore Dylan Abernathy and freshman Blake Hamblin tied for 23rd with rounds of 101.

Next Tuesday, September 24, the Hornets host the NTL in the next to last league match of the season at Tyoga Country Club.
