The Wellsboro Golf team completed the NTL regular season at Tomasso's Country Club on Monday, October 2.
The Hornets captured yet another 2nd place finish with a combined score of 326, just 4 strokes off of Northern Tioga's 1st place finish (322).
"Overall we had a very successful season," said head coach Steve Macensky after his 85th win in 3 seasons. "We finished no more than 4 shots out of first place in 5 out of the 7 matches and recorded 1 win. There was a total of 16 shots between CV and us for the entire season. We had 3 kids make the All-NTL teams and 1 miss by three shots. We're looking forward to District play later this week and are looking forward to next season."
Wellsboro finished ahead of Sayre in 3rd (349), Towanda (356) in 4th, Athens (369) in 5th, and North Penn-Mansfield (374) in 6th.
Junior Ben Barnett tied for 2nd overall with a round of 76 and junior Brandyn Tuttle was right behind him in 4th with a 78. Junior Taynton Repard and sophomore Joseph Propheta both shot rounds of 86 to tie for 9th overall. Rounding out the Hornets were sophomore Ty Morral with an 89 and freshman Brock Hamblin with a 96.
After the match Barnett, Tuttle, and Repard were named to the NTL All-Star team. Barnett and Tuttle were both 1st team selections while Repard was a 2nd team pick.
Wellsboro finished 2nd overall in the league with a record of 29-6 (32-9 overall). Northern Tioga won with a record of 34-1 and Sayre was 3rd (20-15).
The Hornets will be back in action at Williamsport Country Club on Thursday, October 5 for the first round of the District IV Championships.
